The setting of most of the book is in a wilderness but not like any wilderness we have today. The main characters interact with angels and demons, but they are also stalked by a sabertooth tiger. They are primitive with no understanding of the world (they're Adam and Eve). The story begins, however, on the Titan moon, and then an angel is transported to the gate outside the garden of Eden.
