Title: Carnage & Courage Sub-Title: The Satanic Years, 1939-1945 By Page Wilson LogLine on front and back cover: From FDR to Kennedy to London during the Blitz and beyond - A young woman’s memoir of the Second World War Size cover: 6" x 9" Front and back Flap: 3.5" Spine = 1.1" Allow .125" bleed all around Allow: .25" cover/flap Allow: .125" front & back cover/spine (enlarge image front cover) Description on front flap: This is a story of an American woman’s journey from ingénue to professional service in the diplomatic corps at President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's behest – to serve in London with Ambassador Joseph Kennedy as he took up his post just as World War Two began and the Blitz commenced – and then taking on the role of war-wife and mother as her husband flew in the Army Air Force in the Pacific. It is a journey many young men and women would make as America fought to bring peace to the world. Theirs was a shared journey through the years of the worst war the world has ever known, the years of battle between Munich and Hiroshima, between certain death and brave survival – for the men and women under arms as well as their wives and families back home. It is a journey, an era, which would change everyone involved - including the author – that one-time ingénue - as well as FDR, the Kennedy’s, the generals, warriors and flyers she came to know, admire and share her day-to-day life with. Author Bio (back flap): Page H. Wilson is a Washington writer and a social justice activist. Her writing includes articles in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun. She wrote a political satire in 1963, published by Americans for Democratic Action, called Through the Looking Glass Darkly, a political fantasy: A Day with President Garry Boldwater, derived from quotes from Barry Goldwater. She was co-editor of a cookbook with recipes of leading Democratic politicians called “How to Cook Reagan’s Goose”, published by the Woman’s National Democratic Club in l984. Page Huidekoper was born in Richmond, Virginia, in January 15 1918. Notes: In the end, I will need a psd of the front cover with all fonts, a copy of the spine with all fonts, a copy of the flaps with all fonts and a copy of the back cover (no text except for back logline). All these separate elements are needed to complete the InDesign final files and allow for adjustments later please. However, if the front image wraps around to the back, that is fine, it can be one image (one psd) for the front, spine and back (not flaps). Personal Notes: Similar Titles - look at these to get ideas of what works: The Astronaut Wives Club: A True Story by Lily Koppel The Kennedys Amidst the Gathering Storm by Will Swift War Brides by Helen Bryan Crossing the Borders of Time: A True Story of War, Exile, and Love Reclaimed by Leslie Maitland
I am attaching the authors images - NOT for the cover, but to give you a visual impression of the book's content. Thus book MUST VISUALLY appeal to wives of servicemen, appeal to WWII veterans and interested readers, and appeal to NON fiction readers.
