Francis Morrow is the author of two novels, THE DECEASED (2019) and COLLISION (2020). Before embarking on his writing journey, he worked in the energy industry and technology investment. In his stories, he aims to humanise high concepts and make dystopian scenarios a little more fun. Themes that run through his work include: the rise of the tech industry, climate change, artificial intelligence and machine ethics. He never knowingly misses an opportunity to insert a lengthy monologue and/or a bit of the old ultraviolence. His influences include the works of Philip K. Dick and Ray Bradbury, and the movies of Paul Verhoeven and Ridley Scott. He lives in London, England.
In the near future, riot tourism is the favoured summer pastime for the young, wealthy and carefree. The tour moves from continent to continent, seeking out failing regimes and violent conflagrations. Nothing can compare to a pitched battle in historic surroundings. Business is booming and competitors are flooding into the market. To stay ahead, the leading tour operators rely on high quality intel, local contacts, and top-of-the-line equipment: converted cargo planes, APCs, military-grade drones, and the latest in railgun technology. Riot tourism allows you to be a part of history. Witness it, feel it, hold it, but for God's sake, don't make it. Riot Tour is just one of sixteen stories in this varied collection. Witness a sniper slain by his own bullet; listen in, as a sentient drone is talked out of completing its deadly mission; and visit the rustic Kingdom, the future's foremost vacation destination.
The book covers adult themes. Male and female readers will hopefully enjoy these stories. The stories are varied but there is a focus on near future speculative fiction.
Standard kindle cover dimensions (1600 px by 2560 px). I’d like to see a clever, clean design. Ideally, the cover will look good next to my other books (shown below). I don’t want to be too prescriptive, but... I like the idea of combining military equipment with a kind of street art style. See the source images below.
What to avoid
Try to avoid specific faces or easily identifiable military equipment. Title story is set in the near future, so imagery shouldn’t look like far future or fantasy.

And then… they selected a winner!
Amazing! My first time using this platform (I've used other platforms extensively) and Lidia was the perfect artists to work with. Not only did she catch and deliver my vision but she was patient until I was 100% happy. Very cordial and extremely TALENTED. I loved my final design. Do not hesitate in choosing her!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
