The minimalist cover I've always had in mind is a blood red background
with black lettering for the title and my name, and in the middle is
a symbol I've created just for the book, which I've attached below
(it's the kind of pitchfork-looking design). Perhaps even that symbol
superimposed over ocean/water? **AFTER SEEING INITIAL DESIGN
SUBMISSIONS, I'M RETHINKING MY FIRST IDEA OF RED AND BLACK AS IT
TOO MASCULINE. MY READERS ARE GOING TO BE 18-28 YEAR OLD FEMALES SO
LET'S PLAY WITH LIGHTER BLUES INSTEAD**
I'm open for all suggestions and options, so long as that symbol is
the main focus of the cover.
I've also attached a fun sketch one of my friends made for me of my
main character, Kendra - though this picture is more for you to just
get an idea of the character more than anything. I don't want to
reveal TOO much on the cover, so please, come up with something more
On the back cover I want the following excerpt:
"Before I can even do so much as blink, my head is shoved beneath the
the water. I try to fight his iron grip, try to claw at his muscular
arms, try to rip myself free…but it’s useless. The water is cold
as it fills my nose and mouth—black spots blossoming across my
vision. With each passing second I feel my pulse get weaker and weaker
as the very ocean itself consumes me.
I sob, and water fills my throat.
My consciousness begins to slip.
This is it. This is the day I finally die.
I open my eyes to take one last look at the man killing me and see…
A long, grey tail where his legs should be."
I'd also like there to be room on the back page for a very small bio
section and picture of me.
