Olympia: A New Beginning
Osmara Rodriguez Salguero
Osmara was born one chilly November afternoon twenty-one years ago, in Catalina de Güines, Cuba. She is currently a University student living in Orlando, Florida. She loves long horseback rides on the countryside, all kinds of sour fruits, and watching history documentaries. She is also an avid lover of horror movies and telenovelas. By nine months old she started speaking and she hasn't stopped since. This is the first volume in her new long running series.
A small town is expected to be a close-knit community where everyone looks out for each other. That was what the people of Olympia thought their town was like until three high school girls went missing twenty years ago. Another high school girl would be a arrested for their murder, but the Lost Girl's bodies were never found. Seeds of doubt about the wholesomeness of their town were sown into Olympia's community. Instead of looking out for each other, they all had something to hide. Seventeen years after the court case that sentenced a high school girl to death, another girl in town goes missing. A new school year is starting again in Olympia. Kids, and adults alike, all want something that they can't express from this town. Some want recognition, love, acceptance, or revenge. Others just want a way out. A new Lost Girl and old secrets all combine to turn this town on its head.
The target audience is people 16 and above. It is the same target demographic as people who read YA and New Adult. The book also skews towards a more female audience.
Book cover type
I really like covers with people that are stylized, like the ones that I attached. Some imagery that I would like to be included (but it's not necessary) is wildflowers or chrysanthemums, pinewood forests, hearts. This book is going to be the first one in the series and I want every book to have a different character from the ensemble cast on the cover. For this book the main character is Ana Victoria. She has a fifties themed style and likes to wear red polka dot dresses with red headbands. She has long dark brown hair that is wavy and has she bangs that reach her eyebrows. She has big brown eyes and medium beige skin. She is a Hispanic female, seventeen year old. She also wears a thin gold chain necklace with a Saint Catherine of Alexandria pendant.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
osmyrodriguez2012 collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
I had a few jumbled ideas for what I wanted my book cover to be and Danica was able to put them together and design something spectacular. I really love this book cover as do my beta readers! Thank you!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
