This is a 'closed room' style mystery featuring a murder in a rural, down at heel, Texas motel.
My typical reader is female, 55+, and based in the US but I do have a broad readership outside that demographic.
This is a mystery book - not a cozy but not noir, somewhere in the middle. It's similar in style to the traditional Agatha Christie or Ngaoi Marsh books, but for an up to date audience. It's set in a motel in rural Texas and the main protagonist is a senior female with a walking stick - if those elements can be woven in somehow that would be ideal.
What to avoid
Overly illustrated 'cozy' type covers with cursive fonts. Happy to consider illustrated covers if they're not obviously cozy or cartoony.
