E.S. Dawson got their new book cover by running a design contest:
SCI-Fi/ Fantasy Book cover design
Check out E.S. Dawson's Book cover contest…
2255 is about a futuristic society that follows 4 people as they navigate through a new world much different from the world they once knew. Where the lines between technology and humanity become blurred. We follow our unlikely protagonists as they encounter androids and massive mutated animals. The scene the book is written in a overgrown modern style city like the scenes in the new Planet of the Apes movies. Will include images of the scenery that I want to paint and convey to my audience.
Adults, Young Adults, Fans of Sci-fi and Fantasy,

Other color requirements
I don’t have any colors that is has to be I’m much more open to the creativity of the artist. So I’m willing to let the designer choose the colors for me and go from there.
So I have a simple design mocked up as a template with the instructions given I would like to make it’s much more detailed. Also think if Harry Potter no in just style but more so in how the covers are composed.
What to avoid
I don't want it to be a congested image.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
E.S. Dawson collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
