Title: Silk Tether Sub-Title: A Novel By: Minal Khan Back Logline: Silk Saris and Hushed Western Whispers Size cover: 6" x 9" Front and back Flap: 3.5" Spine = .75" Allow .125" bleed all around Allow: .25" cover/flap Allow: .125" front & back cover/spine (enlarge image front cover?) Description on front flap: It’s the year 2007, and pretty Ayla—a young Pakistani woman brought up on the heels of 9/11—grapples with the hidden realities of the Pakistani upper class against the backdrop of upheaval plaguing Karachi. Torrid bomb blasts upon a female politician’s return home, endemic theft and gun violence, and always, religious conservatism—all mirroring the chaos in her own life as she struggles to apply to colleges in the United States. Along the way, growing up in a city rife with contradictions, we meet Shahaan, a boy with a certain 'Godliness' yet a penchant for drugs; and Tanzeela, a teenage girl trapped in an abusive arranged marriage. These are the real stories—the ones that are swept under the flourish of silk saris at get-togethers, the ones that are tucked neatly into expensive wallets at extravagant dinner parties. These stories are only spoken about in hushed whispers...or never at all. On back cover: Leave open mostly Author Bio (back flap): Minal Khan: Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Minal Khan received the Presidential Award for English Literature in Pakistan in 2005. She is gained a degree in Economics at Cornell University where she also served as the International News Editor for the Cornell Progressive publication. She was also a member of the Cornell Debate association. Minal is currently furthering her law studies at University of California, Davis. Notes: In the end, I will need a psd of the front cover with all fonts, a copy of the spine with all fonts, a copy of the flaps with all fonts and a copy of the back cover (no text except for back logline). All these separate elements are needed to complete the InDesign final files and allow for adjustments later please. However, if the front image wraps around to the back, that is fine, it can be one image (one psd) for the front, spine and back (not flaps). This is our second attempt to find a cover. Two designs used the same image (one gold, one blue) - neither of which was acceptable because 1. the woman of the story does not wear headscarves (this is not Pashtun) and 2. because the image is common, found on other projects all over the place. 3. Another designer has a great henna woman but did not do the research - this image is used on two book covers (one is called "Alpha Goddess"). WE NEED ORIGINALITY HERE!! And an American sensibility. See book titles in the brief. All the alternate cover designs designers sent from the contest about a week ago do not reflect the topic of the book and theme of “upper class Pakistani life.” There are no indicators to the consumer that are implicit of that theme, especially once the subtitle is changed to “A Novel.” All these designs are great, but we think we need to find an image that works, that is available, and that the author likes. ALL the images below are rejected (very sadly).
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Book cover starts at £239.
Full copyright with production-ready files for digital and/or print.
It all began with a design brief.

And then… they selected a winner!
I have worked with iNewDesign on several projects. The work his high quality, creative, and always on time / responsive. What more could you want? I highly recommend them.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
