The Immortal Game is a young adult/new adult paranormal-romance and suspense novel. This book is light on sex and heavy on adventure.
The book is written for readers ages 14-26.
Title: The Immortal Game
Author: Joannah Miley
Back cover blurb:
When struggling pre-med student, Ruby West, beats the unconquerable Ash at chess he becomes fixated on her; which is great if you like smoldering blue eyes, sculpted features, and afternoons of unexpected adventure, but not so great when she finds out that he is actually Ares, the Greek God of War, and that Zeus has forbidden the gods from interacting with humans.
Ruby is soon caught up in a world where nothing is as it seems and where mortals are seldom welcome. Before long the two find themselves on a quest to rescue a goddess, save the Earth from unending winter, and secure the right to be together; forever.
I am interested in a cover that expresses the theme that people (and gods) can make themselves anew, that they are in charge of their own destiny, and/or that love is the greatest force in the universe.
Here are some of the symbols in the book:
• An olive branch in bloom
• A black, pitted, ancient, iron ring (for finger)
• A butterfly coming out of a cocoon
• A silver bow and arrows (in or out of quiver/on main character's back)
• Rubies (main character's name is Ruby)
Main character (female) has long golden brown hair, honey brown eyes
The love interest in the book is Ares, the Greek God of War. He has curly black hair that frames his face, bright turquoise-blue eyes, and olive skin.
The settings in the book are:
Modern day Portland, Oregon (and surrounding mountains).
Olympus (an Eden-like garden world)
Hades (a pleasant place where your average dead soul goes)
Tartarus (the Greek mythology equivalent of Hell--complete with flaming river).
Some author ideas:
• A view from behind of the main character diving (swan dive fashion) off an abandonded railroad bridge with a stream far below.
• An olive branch in bloom floating on a river that is on fire.
-The black iron ring (old, pitted, but not rusted--plain black band) at and angle on a dark background.
The image below is one I use on social media and on my website (joannahmiley.com). I do not own this image. I found it on stock.xchng (http://www.sxc.hu/) and I use it in accordance with their guidelines.
I like it when the 'landscape' of the front cover extends to the back cover as well.
