How richardjamesonline started their book cover journey
The Head In The Ice
The Head In The Ice is a Victorian murder investigation into the discovery of a woman's severed head in the River Thames. Inspector Bowman is a troubled character, essentially suffering from PTSD following the death of his wife. He is unstable and the grisly nature of the investigation threatens to tip him over the edge.
It's the first in four books so I'd like to be able to create a continuity of design between the four.
Crime and Victorian history buffs, any age, any location. Anyone who loves Sherlock Holmes and Poirot or who watched Ripper Street or Peaky Blinders.

Love this atmosphere
Love these fonts!
What colors do you want to see in your design?
A sense of the macabre and a feel for the time and location (1880s London). Victorian London skyline, Big Ben, Houses of Westminster, The Thames all feature in the book. Also, think ICE!
What to avoid
Cliches! Magnifying glasses, London fog etc.
This pgives a great sense of time and placeostcard
