BLSoonw got their new business card by running a design contest:
A Cool, Fun Business Card That's Not Really A Business Card - Have fun with this!!! EHSWO.com
Check out BLSoonw's Business card contest…
I would like the card to look artistic, eye-catching, memorable. I don't want a card with a logo on one side and all the contact info on the back side. That looks too much like the current trend in cookie-cutter business cards. With that said, if you can make it look very cool and hip in that style, that would be fine. I would like it to look like a piece of artwork. The primary color is Pearl Blue, and there are other colors. It would be great if you could work in multiple colors, to present the idea of diversity - but I do not want it to look like a rainbow which has its own innuendos and implications. More colors come across as fun! The color palette is based on nature (sky, trees), so the primary color is pearl blue (and other two blues); secondary colors are the two greens. Accent colors are thrown in along with neutrals. It is not a huge priority to make green the secondary color - it's just a nice idea. If you would like to try just blues and greens, that would be fine. I'm curious how that would look. Color wise, the most important thing is that pearl blue is the prominent color. It doesn't have to dominate the card, but the main logo needs to be pearl blue - hex 77b3c8. The logo will have interchangeable colors, but the primary is Pearl Blue. The idea is that everyone is special, and everyone gets to choose his/her own color. The other colors are in Hex : C1DDE6 (Breeze), 32677E (Byron Place), 839874 (Old Green), 546248 (Mossy Bronze), FFBE26 (Macaw), C7665E (Dash of Curry), E3326B (Strawberry Mix). I would like full color coverage - or nearly full coverage, I think. I want the card to look very customized, not templated. The logo is a heart with an outstretched hand (4 fingers) - the idea is that we are each offering something from our heart. I would like to sell these cards and allow people to personalize the card with the color of the logo they prefer, possibly also add their own name. Haven't decided exactly. I have font suggestions from my logo designer. If you have other ideas for the header and body font, I am open to those. I haven't given it much thought and just went along with the logo designer. If you can find an open source cursive font - I would also like to add that, to be used sparingly, that fits the tone - cool, fun, hopeful, etc. Also needs to be compatible with the modern style of the logo.
Brand name to include on the business card
What to avoid
- Not too masculine or feminine - since the company caters equally to men and women. Gender neutral is good. - Avoid associations with social issues and particular groups (i.e., avoid rainbow color arrangement which can imply a certain group of people). I would like the message to stand on its own, totally open - no preference for or against any specific groups or people. -Not black background on both sides - too intense and serious. Tone should be fun, cool.
