Foundation Scotland
We support communities in Scotland to flourish, by building funding programmes and working alongside local citizens
A colourful poster format which illustrates a busy and thriving rural community, people working in harmony, features include local assets such as: a someone working on the small river hydro-electric plant; a community hub with youth café and a dance mobility project for elderly citizens; a roundtable showing a group doing some planning (a hint of financial planning would be good here); local businesses trading showing a young apprentice, e.g. a baker, motor mechanic, plumber etc; another business based on tourism, e.g. a cliché such as artsy coffee shop with seaview is fine(!); another tourist business, such as campervan hook-up point to local farm. etc. etc. - in general you have a lot of creative licence to include graphic 'snippets' such as these ideas above across the poster.
Update to the brief:
1. I've made the contest Blind after requests from several designers
2. Please feel free to add in community project elements which you dream up (we fund 2,500 projects a year, so most community things you think of we have probably funded)
3. Please do include some form of illustration to show community citizens in 'planning mode' - ideally relating to funds / finance - as this is central to the artwork
4. I'm using the artwork with colleagues and volunteers of the Foundation - so its not actually a marketing artwork (they already know what we do, and the artwork is going to be used to help work on our vision for the next 3 years etc.) - any text should be just to underline / explain a graphic. Please don't use loads of explanatory text from our website about what the Foundation is / does (this doesn't help our planning meetings) - thanks :)
5. A montage style is fine - I can see it is difficult to use e.g. ten graphic elements and make them all coherent on one poster (but if you can make them all link together graphically, that's great!)
6. However, please use a graphic / illustration approach - a montage of photographs does not work for this project
7. I will print out the artwork about flipchart size - I think that might be A1 size - I was thinking it might need to be landscape orientation to provide a community view, but it could be portrait - flexible on this orientation
8. I have made extended the contest, so stage 1 ends sometime on Monday I think - I did this as I have sharpened the brief a bit, hence some extra time
Thanks all :)
examples of the sort of projects we fund, which could feature on the poster can be found on our website - just search Foundation Scotland and look for case studies / grant examples
We want to use the poster to help build our vision further for our foundation ... to help our colleagues and volunteers think about 'whats missing' and 'what next'
