Gameplay design for a cycling racing videogame

A cycling videogame aimed at cycling enthusiasts.

We are looking for a concept of gameplay for a cycling video game. We would like you to develop an illustration that represents a moment of gameplay. Our audience is keen amateur cyclists, so please make sure you familiarise with cycling and the difference between mountain bikes and road bikes. Ideas related to road cycling and mountain biking are both accepted. To be clear, the illustration should not be focused on jumping or descending/downhill as this is not going to be part of the game. The game is more focused on racing. We imagine that the setting would include a road and some cyclists and a surrounding landscape. If you choose to make it related to mountain biking, you should use a trail or gravel/fire road instead of a road and a landscape immersed in nature. If you choose road cycling, it can be any realistic landscape or race settings (mountains, countryside, Belgian village, Italian village, giro d'italia, tour de France, Tour of flanders) with a road. To be more specific these are possible scenarios we'd like to see (but you are welcome to suggest something different): - cyclist in a race trying to reach a larger group of cyclists (peloton) - cyclist in a race trying to breakaway from other cyclists to reach the finish first - cyclists in a paceline/chaingang - cyclist going up a steep road - cyclist in a natural setting trying to evade an animal (a wolf, a bear) - track cyclists competing in a velodrome If you'd like to add elements of the user interface (eg indicating speed/power/ % incline/km/position in the race) this is welcome but not necessary. Please reach out if you need more specific guidance or inspiration.

We are looking for: - richness of details - creativity - should be attractive to the eye - something that makes you want to play. Should look and feel like a game, not art. We accept any of the following styles: - 3D Stylized / Low polygon - 3D Realistic - 2D Make sure the cyclist is in a proper cycling outfit and not in casual clothes. Please keep the bicycle clean (no pannier racks) and no additional gear (no backpack, bags). Layout: horizontal (landscape), not vertical. Possible views: - aerial/top down (from above) - third person (from behind user/rider) - first person (in which case you can see handlebars) We are adding for inspiration: - images of cyclists in real life - images of games we like (not necessarily cycling related) If we like more than one entry we are open to selecting multiple winners. We expect to do follow up projects with the winner(s). This contest is blind and guaranteed.
