jeff.duguid got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Anniversary Logo for Construction Firm Serving Federal Agencies
Check out jeff.duguid's Logo design contest…
**UPDATE 8 January 2016 12:21 PM EST** Even though I have not been brave enough to guarantee the contest, I am preparing to move forward with the best design as I am already behind schedule for this project! **UPDATE 8 January 2016 11:44 AM EST** Thank you to all of the designers who have submitted design concepts. From all of the submissions I have only received one stand alone seal type design. All other designs have focused on incorporating the anniversary into our existing logo. Either route could provide a winning concept if the design is right. To all of the designers who are watching the contest but haven't submitted a concept please know that at this point there are only three real design concepts that we are considering, so there is plenty of opportunity to submit! For all designs that are utilizing the existing logo please keep the following points in mind: 1. Please don't alter the logo too dramatically, we will only switch out this new logo for a year, it can't be a night and day difference. 2. Keep it simple. Many submissions have included too much text (40th anniversary + years in business + other text). 3. Keep in mind that our current logo in many instances sits on paper right aligned and the blue/white/gray color bar on the left extends and bleeds off the left side of the page. This is demonstrated in the v2 logo uploaded with the brief. Your design needs to allow us the ability to continue to bleed the logo off the left side. **See letterhead example just uploaded** Thank you for all of your ideas and submissions, keep them coming! Task: Create art/logo for a construction firm’s corporate anniversary Task Description: This task will create artwork to highlight the firm’s 40th anniversary (1976 to 2016). The new design can either be standalone artwork similar to a seal that can be displayed with the firm’s existing logo or it can be incorporated into the logo as long as it doesn’t significantly change the existing logo. If standalone art is designed, please present showing proposed layout with the existing logo. **We are NOT looking for a new logo** This design is to demonstrate our 40th anniversary, either by way of a custom designed seal or incorporation of the anniversary message INTO our existing logo. This new design will be used for a year before reverting back to the original logo. There are very few limitations on the design, shape, orientation, colors, and text. Our logo includes Pantone colors 286 and 424 with text set using Swiss 721 BT Medium Italic. A vector copy of the logo is attached. On letterhead and similar printed formats, the logo is right aligned with the left edge bleeding off the page. The new art will be placed on the firm’s letterhead, envelopes, website, email signature blocks, and in conjunction with anniversary celebration events throughout the year. David Boland, Inc. is a general contractor based in Titusville Florida and provides construction services nationwide for Federal Government agencies with a focus on military facility construction. The firm is classified as a small business but regularly completes against some of the national’s largest contractors and has a successful track record of completing large scale contracts on projects valued at over $30M. We have been serving Federal agencies for all 40 years of the firm’s history. Target Market: The audience that will see this artwork is primarily composed of Federal Government agencies (our clients), subcontractors, suppliers, and architects working for us, and other individuals who visit our website or receive paperwork from the firm.
