Brian Matiash Photography - http://www.brianmatiash.com
I am a photographer who specializes in HDR imaging to provide my photos more depth and a powerful viewing experience for my audience. I am in the process of making a push to commercially extend my work and services and am hoping to find a logo that I can brand my website and PhotoBlog with.
I love photographing in urban environments, especially around new and sleek architecture and city elements. I strive to set my work apart by using unorthodox composition and processing. My goal is to have viewers be able to identify my work without having to be explicitly told that I was the photographer.
In case you are unfamiliar with HDR imaging, let me give a brief explanation. High Dynamic Range imaging is a processing technique where a photographer takes several images of the exact scene at different exposure levels. Software is then used to combine these exposures into one image containing all of the dynamic range (the detail from the darkest part of the image to the lightest part). This often leaves you with an exceptionally detailed and hyper-realistic version of the original image.

There are several target audiences that I wish to attract with my new logo:
1. Commercial Property Owners & Stakeholders - These can be Restaurateurs, Hotel Owners, Interior Designers, Office Real Estate Firms who are looking to license my images to decorate their spaces.
2. Real Estate Agents/Realtors - My particular brand of photography can provide Real Estate Agents with much higher quality and depth to the images of the properties that they are attempting to sell. Excellent, quality, and representative photos of For-Sale Properties is a crucial factor in the sale of a house and I want to be the premier photographer for local Realtors, especially those who are selling Luxury Properties.
3. Overall Photo Community - I have worked very hard to establish myself as a major player in the HDR Photo Community and I wish to have my logo further enforce this.
4. One-off Customers - I get a lot of one-off customers who visit my Blog or Portfolio and wish to purchase prints of my images. I would like the logo to show these customers that they are buying from a photographer who has a unique and consistent vision.
I am a big fan of contemporary design that suits the type of photographic eye that I have. I am not a fan of stuffy or overt branding. I don't want to cram my logo into the viewers' eyes. I want it to convey a professional experience when dealing with me. I want it to show my target audience that I know what I am doing and that they are in good, experienced hands.
I am not opposed to an icon of sorts but I really don't want it to be totally obvious - like a camera and my name around it. I am not opposed to sort of a camera profile or elements of one. Perhaps a combination of some sort of Urban Facade combined with a camera element.
I am not a fan of Serif fonts.
I am not 100% decided on whether to use color or B&W. I say this because I am not sure which color to use. If you do attempt a color mock up, I would recommend sticking with neutral/subtle earth tones. If you go to my blog (http://brianmatiash.com/blog), you can get an idea of the color schemes that I like. I'd like the logo to be on a transparent layer so that it will display seamlessly wherever I use it.
I am attaching the current logo that I use, designed by me. The design elements of the font are applicable but feel free to spread your wings here. I am not tied to any particular font but it would be nice to maintain some observable consistency across the Blog and Portfolio site.
