Poke-Poke is a husband and wife company from the hub of Socal indie culture, Venice Beach, LA, CA. We're passionate about design, food, music, surf and style. We want our poke business brand to reflect our style and the independence/uniqueness of poke. Poke is like inexpensive sashimi marinated in yummy soy-based sauce and served usually to-go from liquor stores etc...This dish has not made it to the states from Hawaii (I picked up poke making while living in Hawaii) We plan on bringing this to the people on the street via farmers markets, then a food cart, then hopefully a store front.
Branding is EXTREMELY important in this venture. I'm a technology marketing professional (Marketing Manager for (mt) Media Temple), my wife has a background in high-end retail. We'll market this very modern-day with daily blogging, specials, twitter promos geo-specials etc..
Our Audience varies from adventurous, trendy eaters to surferswanting a cheap dinner that goes awesome with beer...Poke is inexpensive, yet it is a delicacy, so the product transcends some demographics.
Age wise the people will probably be mid-late twenties to early forties. We want to convey style through the brand and the venues we sell the poke, so the audience we target will be trend setters. As the marketing cycle matures (quickly in this case), trend setter targeting goes mainstream.
This brand will exist on our packaging, (large presence on labels and the container itself) Be on the website/Blog, the twitter page, stationary etc..
We want the brand to convey a surfer feel with abit of edge edge. We're in Venice Beach where surf/hipster/elegant syles clash constantly and we feel this is the perfect home for Poke-Poke in the states. We want to convey that feeling or style...It needs to be approachable, but a bit edgy. We initially are thinking something simple, with a surf board maybe (maybe too cliche) and bright/warm colors..cool blue and red and yellow.
Attached is our original comp, we're open to another version of this or new ideas completely.
Looking forward to selecting the brand!
We'll need all possible formats i imagine
