keh2196 got their new logo design by running a design contest:

Medical & Pharmaceutical
The Center for Translational & Computational Neuroimmunology (CTCN) is a new research center based at Columbia University which is dedicated to understanding, in humans, how the immune system contributes to the development of brain and spinal cord diseases and to identifying novel chemical tools with which to accelerate the development of approaches and drugs to modulate the activity of the immune system in ways that prevent diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or ALS. In our work, we use both advanced methods of studying cells extracted from human brains and analyses of “big data” (measuring millions of data points from each sample); we have experimental and computational biologists working side by side. The target audience is primarily other scientists, but we also educate students and patients about the diseases that we study and how contributing human samples helps to advance research.
A key cell type that we study is the microglial cell, which is the only immune cell that lives its entire life within the brain and has a nice stellate shape but will adopt other shapes as it executes its tasks (they are very adaptable). We focus primarily on the brain and the spinal cord. Our center is structured in a way that the biologists from the “wet-lab” work hand-in-hand with the computational /bioinformatics scientists; thus, it is important to us that the logo represents this integration/collaboration. An important aspect of this collaboration is that the bioinformatics scientists reduce complex data to simpler network diagrams, which the biologists use to develop new innovative approaches in the wet-lab. We will include the CTCN name separately, right now we are just looking for a logo to represent us.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at £239.

It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their logo design.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
keh2196 collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
