We are a women's boutique, but we don't consider ourselves a "boutique"; we're sort of in between a boutique and a Nordstrom.
We are not interested in anything too girly or childish. We strongly dislike anything with swirls and borders. We prefer something "signature" (as in cursive) but it has to be very legible but fun and modern. Possibly something thicker that when in tiny 1 color scale on print media is still easy to read. We don't want the logo to appear to be just some font selection; blending and the appearance of hand drawn or painted in vector would be ideal. I am a graphic designer myself and I have the ability to tweak any designs in Illustrator...That being said, we do have a need to alter the colors of this logo weather it be solid black or white for a dark/light backgrounds, or 2 full color options for dark/light print media. The logo has to be versatile; I would like it to be a very nice rendition of colors but have the ability to have it cut into etched glass vinyl (1 color) for example. The logo can be complicated in styles, but a simple and clean look, however overall the logo should not appear to be complicated. The logo can have shadows and glows as necessary to be uploaded to our website and email templates for example, but typically a .PNG format for penetrating backgrounds.
Please note: I will probably end up going with a variation that is similar to our current logo, but I don't want you to see that until I've seen some of your ideas first. We have been in business for over 25 years and people are familiar with us; I don't want to scare anyone off by giving the impression we've changed ownership. Although I am open to new ideas, the thought of being too altered is scary.
If you're wondering why I am a graphic designer reaching out to you, it is because I have exhausted all my ideas for this business and I am looking for a fresh new look; someone else's ideas.
* I was told by 99 Designs not to submit my current logo until 1/2 way through this process. Just so I can see some of your ideas first. If I don't find anything I love, I would like to submit my logo to you at that point.
