Medical & Pharmaceutical
This is a medical meeting for professionals in a field called Interventional Oncology. It is a minimally invasive method of treating tumors, usually of the liver, lung, and kidney, although other organs are involved. The title of the meeting is Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology, but the meeting is known as CIO. I have a very specific idea in mind for using the letters C, I, and O to form the elements of the logo, where the "C" forms a stylistic outline for a generic organ, a shape that still suggests a "C" and yet still communicates the outline of a liver or kidney, the "I" represents a catheter or needle entering the organ, and the "O" is a tumor, within the outline of the "C", and traversed by the "I", suggesting the needle or catheter entering the tumor and treating it. Graphically suggesting that the "O" of the tumor is shrinking would be desirable. The "I" must somehow communicate either a needle directly puncturing the organ and the tumor, or a catheter traveling to the organ through blood vessels. Our audience will understand the gist, and I don't believe a graphic depiction of blood vessels is warranted for this element. I realize this may be difficult to visualize, so I will upload a very crude depiction of what I'm thinking in a line drawing. It doesn't fall neatly into the logo types mentioned below. The CIO logo we are currently using is in the font Bernhard Modern Std-Roman. You can look at our website at www.iset.org/oncology to get a feel for our meeting. As medical meetings go, it is fun, witty, modern, and practical, with excellent audio visual.
Logo types to explore
I would like the logo to be cool, forward, and fun. It's a cancer meeting but the logo should communicate hope and skill, even defiance.
