Medical & Pharmaceutical
I'm a physician and researcher. I treat patients who suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, abbreviated IBD. These are chronic in nature; examples are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Men and women are equally afflicted, and the typical age at disease-onset is 15-40 years. I am developing a smartphone-app for our patients, through which they can report to the clinic how they are feeling through standardized symptom-scores, scores for disease-related quality-of-life, and a laboratory home-test which measures the degree of inflammation in the gut. The app can also advise the patients to increase or decrease their medication depending on the disease activity. Additionally, the app contains educational material about the disease, a diary/calendar, reminders etc. The app helps us to "keep an eye" on the patient, and it helps the patient to be empowered in their role as a person with a chronic disease.
What's your vision?
I would like to have a logo for the App which also may work as a button in the smartphone (the main aim is a logo, not a button, but if the logo can serve as a smartphone-button that's great). I have named the App "IBDi" which refers to the disease IBD of course, and the "i" I think of as A) an "eye" that helps us monitor the patient and the patient to monitor the disease, B) a tool used over the "internet", and C) "I" as in me/myself, i.e. a tool to improve the quality-of-life of the patient herself/himself, "I".
If IBD is written in lowercase letters, then, together with the "i" there's a graphical symmetry ("ibdi") in the name which could be exploited in the logo. I have attempted to make a logo myself (see attachment, the B&W with "ibdi" in the middle), but I find it a bit "stiff/static". I also attach some eye-icons I found on the webb which could be inspirational. One could also potentially mix in a symbol of the intestines which is the organ affected, but that may get too complicated or "busy". Initially, I called the App "mIBD" as in "my IBD" and I made a couple of logo-suggestions back then which I also attach just for giving a background, and for showing the intestines/bowel idea, that could potentially but not necessarily be combined with the "eye-theme".
