We're a new e-publisher focused on creating innovative and experience-focused books for 11-14 year old readers. We have two types of products: "Play" e-books which are creative and "Learn" e-books focused on the education space.
We're young and really focused on redefining not just what it means to read but also what it means to write. We don't believe in sacred cows or standard definitions and our brand needs to reflect that.
Our favorite colors are blue and green. We also really like dogs. Golden puggles with big floppy ears are especially cool.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our logo needs to work with two different types of clients. Although we target young readers ages 11-14, our two product lines have different buyers.
"Play" books need to appeal directly to our readers, who are 11-14, in the 6th - 8th grade and equally weighted between boys and girls.
"Learn" books are used in classrooms. We have to bring these to educators (teachers, principals and superintendents) before they can be deployed.
Neither of us are designers and we're pretty open to your creative thoughts. That said, we have a a couple ideas on what a winning design will look like. See above for detailed descriptions:
- Final logo should work with both young readers (11-14) and adults (educators)
- Blue and green are good colors, but so are gray and brown. Ideally should be something that can be put on a watermark or imprint and that can convert to black and white
- We really like dogs, especially golden puggles with big floppy ears, but we don't like cute-sy - the puggle who inspired us is pretty badass!
- We like modern and streamlined or modern and rustic, but nothing gender-specific or overly complex...
ADDENDUM TO OUR DOG COMMENT: If we do have a dog in the logo, it needs to be abstract and/or subtle...some of our clients are pretty serious folks and an overt picture of a dog might not come across in the right way. Thanks!
