Oak Root Financial
I'm starting my own company because I, probably like you, don't like working for other people. I want the culture of the firm to be of the highest ethical standards where people take responsibility and ownership for what they do. I'm a bit aggressive, I went to Stanford where I received degrees in Bio and Econ and then went to Columbia B-school then got a job as an I-banker then started selling distressed assets. In addition, I like to compete in Ironman distance triathlons and do testing for a Pearl Izumi clothing.
The logo needs to make people feel like we are big and that we are established. The website, which I'll need help with when the logo is done, will need to convey a sense of ethical responsibility.
The target is going to be Private Equity firms, Asset backed lenders like Wells Fargo, GE Capital etc, and retail companies. These people will be using our services to make decisions on how much money they should loan to companies requesting it. I recently did a valuation of a company with $1.4 billion in retail sales and the lender gave them access to $200 million based on the valuation that I did. These are very large dollar amounts and they need to feel comfortable that we can deliver a product that they can lend against.
The requirements for the logo are simple. I need it to work in color and black and white - but you knew that. Created in Adobe Illustrator and at an appropriate size that it can be put in to a png file to be used in powerpoint and printed and still look good. I'll need the rgb and the cmyk for all colors used. I'd also like to see the logo with the name Oak Root Financial associated with it. So I'll need the font as well.
I'd like to stay away from using Blue - I see blue and grey everywhere. So I think green and black or green and grey would be good. But, I'm not married to the colors.
As the name indicates, I need it to show strength, security, high degree of ethics but also very importantly optimism and -this is a long shot- a sense of family. I want it to be more creative and optimistic than:
I don't want the tree to look like an Icon like: http://www.redwoodsgroup.com/
We will be investing other peoples money as well as our families so I'd like to communicate the idea of investing in the roots makes the tree strong and I have no idea how you do that...
Somewhere on the tree trunk should be "K+J" inside a heart like it was carved in the tree by a couple of kids but I don't want it to be really noticable. 95% of people shouldn't catch it. I should have to point it out to them if/when I want to.
