The Members of Mélange: Celebrating Diversity through the Arts
Our Board of Advisors includes Jean Paul Gaultier's Creative Director, the founder of Boston Fashion Week, and the first African American woman on the cover of a fashion magazine (Glamour- 1961).
Inspired by Harvard BlackCast's Eleganza, The Members of Mélange is an entertainment show and social organization that is launching in San Francisco this 2011. The Members of Mélange is an invitation-only society that celebrates diversity through a magnificent blend of music, theater, and dance. Mélange aims to inform and empower our members to participate in changing the normative perception of health and beauty.
Mélange means mixture in French and also has a connotation of diversity (like a melting pot). We really emphasize diversity through our cast of models of all different sizes, ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations.
Some of our prospect designers and sponsors include: Sephora, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Anthropology, Moet, and more. These brands should give you a sense of the Members of Mélange.
Our show is also very dynamic and uniquely entertaining! We deconstruct the barrier between the audience and performers of Mélange, so models will be dancing, posing, or even doing some back flips through the audience, as audience members sip on French wine and snack on Brazilian cheese bread delicacies. Our show is very FUN, artistic, classy, and energizing!
Our website is undergoing renovation, but essentially we have a very chic, stylish, and simplistic aesthetic. Some of our inspirations from our website come from: http://www.thakoon.com/ or http://www.jeanpaulgaultier.com/.
The production’s target demographic includes graduate students and educated professionals, ages 21 to 45. Liquor is served at nearly all of our events, so our audience is definitely 21+.
Our audience has a sophisticated style and luxurious taste, and our audience enjoys the fine things in life-- like expensive champagne and beach side napping.
Our brand must also impress our potential sponsors and designers, including Club Monaco, BCBG, and Vogue.
We are primarily looking for a classy and iconic emblem. We are open to the idea of an emblem with two Ms (like MM) or an emblem with the M of M. We would like this emblem to be used on all of our invitations.
We like how mélange looks in unique fonts or in cursive.
We would like "the members of melange" to be in a smaller font with the emblem centered above this.
We are thinking of possibly some sort of logo with a black background and striking color (or multicolored) font. It would be fun to have a single logo that we could use different times with different colors. Since we are all about celebrating diversity, many colors in our logo might be appropriate. Perhaps a multicolored font, or with words or letters of different fonts.
