Weddington Way (http://www.WeddingtonWay.com)
We are two fashion veterans from New York who are now based in Silicon Valley and are passionate about revolutionizing the way brides and bridesmaids shop for bridesmaid dresses.
Weddington Way is an online boutique dedicated to making bridesmaid dress shopping fun and easy for brides and their friends. We are using e-commerce and social networking technology to enable a memorable group shopping experience for busy brides who often live in different cities than their bridesmaids.
Our brand is elegant yet warm and fun. We carry some of the hottest dress designers and are creating an aspirational/cool brand but with a focus on high touch customer service that makes us very approachable and welcoming for even the most overwhelmed bride (planning a wedding can be very intimidating). We will provide a clean user experience on our website, as many wedding sites like http://www.theknot.com are cluttered with information.
While we want our logo to stand out and have energy, we will be displaying it on our website where the product (dresses) are the number one focus...so it should be noticeable but not overwhelming or loud.
Our primary target is brides in the United States. Age range is 26-34. The brides we are targeting, work full-time and are incredibly busy. They are successful young professionals who care about their wedding being beautiful but don't have the time to spend their engagement year planning their wedding every Saturday, Sunday and free moment (they like to use their free time to hang out with friends, exercise and spend quality time with their fiances too)...their free time is precious because they are working 10-12 hours/day 5 days a week (at least). They have friends that live in many different cities and are not excited about a lot of the logistics around coordinating with their bridesmaids...they want everything around their wedding to be fun, not stressful, for everyone. They like quality and care about being fashionable but don't want their bridesmaids to spend too much money on their dresses (bridesmaids pay for the dresses even though the brides choose)

We have been playing around with the idea of making our logo look like a street sign (see attached).
Note: Potential for follow-on graphic design work if we love your logo!
Adjectives:
-simple and clean but with warmth and energy (achieve this possibly through use of accent colors)
-elegant (important for earning bride's trust..they do not want to totally depart from the traditional...just the part of the old process that is difficult)
-social, fun (we are a group shopping platform)
Icon:
We would like to explore the idea of including an icon in the logo, as we think that visuals are incredibly powerful, but we don't want the logo to be too complicated or childish.
Color:
-grey + silver + accent color (open to more than one accent color).
-potential accent colors: yellow (1st choice, needs to stand out but not too highlighter or too basic/primary), mint green and raspberry
-if you have a better idea for accent colors than we've presented, we're open
Logos we love (like how they use icons to integrate 2 colors):

http://www.newlywish.com/
As for file formats, we need a vector file version, a jpg and a photoshop version of the logo. We also need a Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
What to stay away from:
-No stock images or clip art
-blues and pinks...we don't want to look like other wedding sites (www.theknot.com, http://www.stylemepretty.com...)
