ProvenWorks needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 250 designs submitted by 47 freelance designers.
ProvenWorks is a small new software development company formed in Reading, England. It has been formed by two young IT professionals to exploit sales opportunities within some of the largest IT companies in the world.
The legal name of the company is “Proven Works Limited”, however we trade as “ProvenWorks” (note no space). Our primary web address will be http://www.provenworks.com.
At present, we do not have any corporate identity
ProvenWorks
The main ‘large’ logo should incorporate, or at least sit well with the company name “ProvenWorks”. A second, smaller version of the logo is necessary which is square and can be used as an icon within our applications. Ideally this logo can be visually associated with our main logo despite being small (32x32).
It is important that the logo can be adapted to sit well on white for use on stationery but obviously when the logo is used on the web then there is free reign on the use of background colour.
The design should as much as possible promote the following key messages:
- A modern, possibly unique, refreshing approach
- A medium sized, agile business – not a 2-man band, but not a multinational either.
- A technical, well-thought-out, precise, attention-to-detail approach. Background: ProvenWorks is a play on the double meaning of Works meaning a factory or functional. Thus we ‘manufacture’ software that is proven to be functional.
Desired Colour Scheme: We favour ‘Earth’ or ‘Nature’ colours, when combined it is vital that they give a clean, modern appearance.
Examples of websites with colour schemes we like are ( http://www.vertigo.com, http://www.rhetorik.com , http://www.borland.com , http://www.sun.com old ximian site - http://web.archive.org/web/20031230…imian.com/ )
Colours which can easily be worked in to a website in the short term, but still easily transferred to print for business cards, letter heads etc.
Although intended for a website brief this may be insightful of things we like: http://www.provenworks.com/DesignBr…inions.pdf
Desired Style: Modern, professional, clean lines and colour
Accepted File Formats: Original vector source file with any layers still intact (e.g. not just an EPS, but the AI file as well).
Royalty Liabilities: If you use a font or logo which we will have to pay to use please indicate the cost when submitting your design. If you win we will need full details of how and where to obtain rights.
Scheme: No direct use of IT equipment, the company is about general business solutions
Logo: No simple PW logos please, try and think of a logo based on a play of ProvenWorks if possible.
Tagline: No slogan.
Competitors: Beware of companies such as ThoughtWorks who have a similar name and so we mustn't have a similar corporate identity aswell.
