Great design. Exactly what we were after. Designer had real understanding of our requirements.
Using 99designs.com was the best decisin I've done in a long time. I thougt I had a awsome logo sketch untill I submitted it to this service. I admit I was skeptical at first, then I recived 50 different logos, then 100 then 200. The final designer was Alwan, who did a grate job by listening to all my feedback and applying it to creat the final winning logo design.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We operate an orphanage in Africa for 110 orphan children.Orphans because of HIV/AIDS. The children are raised in a loving Christian home that provides total care including food, shelter, education and medical. The home is in Uganda but funds are raised from donors in the USA through child sponsorship and other donations.

To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
We want a simple design that conveys African children and Africa. Our old logo was a tree which represented the tree in the front yard of the Children's Home. We realize that alone does not convey who we are and what we do to those who do not know us. A stylized African tree could certainly be included in the design to
tie the old to the new but it is more important simply to show that we are associated with Africa and children.
Our focus is caring for orphan children but our target audience is primarily Christian donors in the USA. We are a Christian organization but that is not the primary message we are trying to convey in our logo.
I have included a photo of the children's home for no reason other than to show you why we used a tree before. You can also see the building and earth colors. The soil can be very red in places.
If images/silhouettes of children are used they must be African looking. I have included a photo of some our children. You can see they are happy, healthy. We do not want to depict the desperate sad orphan scenario in our logo. Our children go to school, read books, play and are normal happy kids.
