Slavic produced many of the best designs in this contest. He was up against stiff competition but delivered on the brief perfectly. A very talented designer.
How Capoz started their logo design journey
HubDirector:: director of a center of interest or activity or importance
We are a lean startup working on a new product aimed at helping companies and communities consolidate the knowledge that emerges through the use of collaborative platform (starting with wikis).
Why HubDirector: we chose 'Hub' because of its etymology:
"perhaps from hubbe, originally ‘lump’, the source of hob of a fireplace and hobnail, as in boots. A wheelwright’s word, not generally known or used until c.1828; it reached wider currency in connection with bicycles.
Meaning ‘center of interest or activity or importance’first recorded 1858 in writings of Oliver W. Holmes."
And 'Director' thinking about an orchestra director making a HubDirector someone (or something) that, well, directs a center of interest or activity or importance
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Medium to big businesses at first, hopefully online communities in the future but overall anyone who find herself with an extensive body of knowledge built collaboratively and aggregating many sources and now needs to find a way to organise it without losing the collaborative aspect.
Think of any company that uses a wiki to share knowledge internally and then needs to do some gardening to keep everything consistent and help people find relevant information quickly.
- we would like to avoid having the product name in the logo
- cartoons and photos are not what we have in mind
- we would like to stress the 'hub' part of it and very much like the 'o' in this one: http://www.hubspot.com/Portals/53/i…_logo1.png although it's already taken :-)
- ideally we would like to be able to reuse part of it for future products which will be related. Something along the lines of what Atlassian does with the company, Jira and Confluence logos (a common part + a distinctive bit):
