How StartUpSydney started their logo design journey
EoCell - E=Everything,O = Over, Cell = Cellular
When a customer recieves delivery of our product I want reaction more like he recieved a new iPad than just another Dell PC Clone
I am a fan of disruptive technologies.
For most of my career as a Sales and Marketing executive of Industrial Electronics hardware in Europe, USA and Australia, I have not had complete control of branding or of a products look and feel. I am now launching a new business as a manufacturer myself, so I want to ensure my new brand is not boring. I would like our products to stir emotions like a nice car. Logo is the start - after we settle on it i want to look at packaging etc - .
When a customer is gets delivery of our product I want there reaction more like he recieved an iPad than just another Dell PC Clone
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
EoCell is a manufacturer of high reliabilty communications hardware solutions/platforms. Our products will be sold throughout the world. The products use cellular networks (AT&T etc) as means of interfacing to a WAN. They are typically installed on moving vehicles such as Caterpillar Trucks, Yachts, and Trains. These products can provide broadband connection to remote equipment and assets so they can be monitored or controlled from anywhere. Our hardware is used to save costs, increase efficiency, improve customer service, increase safety etc
Customer is mainly Industrial; Transport: Road & Rail, Utilities; Electrical Transmission & Distribution, Mining, Renewable Energy, and emerging areas of mHealth. This is a growing market with many small players. Most logos in industrial space are lame. They dont say what they do. Yet our customers appreciate clever design. Logo is key to making a good first impression.
Our customer is typical engineer; usually Male, geeky, fussy, reliable and conservative.
o = over
Cell = Cellular
Logo needs to keep these 3 elemets seperate. Dont combine E+O. The o must stand out as a connector. Like the term VoIP - “Voice over IP”. I want clean, modern, minimalistic look and feel , Examples of logos I like; ericsson.com, citibank.com, ibm.com, cisco.com, nokia.
I am not neccesarily looking for a logo - a text only is ok. I need a logo that can be used on Web sites, Email signatures, packaging, email signatures.
Attached is picture of what a typical product looks like. Be sure to use colors that will work on a small metal box. So what ever colors you choose for Logo will have to complement or be same as product case color. Or you can suggest colors for the enclosure and front label.

“Reach Everything ” – This term could be used under the name or the complete name could be spelled out "everything over cellular"
