Mixed Message Media
We take freedom of speech very seriously, and feel that for it to flourish, you must continually push at the edges of what is acceptable. We intend to publish print media to distribute in stores and online as well as music and video to be distributed digitally.
We like to say "If it's offensive, we'll publish it", but we care about quality as well. If you're pushing people's limits, you want to do it in a way that shows insight and intelligence so that the idealogues in the culture wars can't just label you as a jerk. (Even though we probably are jerks!)
Our name, Mixed Message, reflects our firm belief that conflicting viewpoints can be equally valid, and we intend to use our media to tweak everyone's nose. It also indicates that we're not committed to only producing humorous or satirical media - if the right opportunity to publish a serious work comes along, we intend to take it.
Disaffected college students. Readers of sites like Fark, Cracked, and Leasticoulddo.com. People not easily offended.
Our primary following is likely to be online, so our audience is probably tech savvy, educated (or at least think they are), and probably a little self-involved. Our humor will fit both ends of the political spectrum, but will not likely appeal to sensitive bleeding-heart types or Bible-thumping morality crusaders.
I'm looking for a logo which will fit well at the top of a web-page, and which has a color scheme that the site will reflect. (I'm not into pastels, and I don't want so many colors that the logo looks like Carmen Miranda's hat.)
Ideally, either the logo itself, or some portion of the logo should be able to be miniaturized enough to fit on the spine of a book. This is not an absolute requirement, but will play into my decision when choosing a winning design.
Though we will focus on humorous media, our logo should NOT be limited to just raunchy humor (e.g. collegehumor.com) or should be easily adaptable to have a more 'sober' version.
