We need a logo for our shopping & savings service on the iPhone. Our application uses smart personalization to make saving easy. We do this by using consumer financial transaction data to create shopping profile of their merchant, brand and category preferences. This profile is used to automatically select, filter and deliver savings offers to the consumers mobile device. From the mobile device specific offers can be filtered by location, browsed by category, or searched using keywords. Once offers of interest are identified, they can be redeemed at the point of sale by showing the cashier the offer on the phone screen.
The application has attributes of savings ($), instant, smart, fun, innovative, trustworthy, and helpful. The application learns from a user’s spending information to make smart recommendations, so the logo needs to impart trust and legitimacy without being too playful or cutesy. I’ve attached some links of existing logos/designs that convey at least some of these attributes (see attachments below).
Our team is part of a larger company that has a trusted reputation within the consumer market.
The target user is a convenience shopper consumer. This user’s mindset is “I’d really like to save money when I shop, but coupon clipping is such a hassle”. They may not be actively searching for this type of solution, but if they stumble across it they’ll get excited if they believe it will really help them save.
The secondary target is a diligent saver consumer. This user is an active coupon clipper and employs a number of different methods to help them save money when spending. This user is very familiar with the pain of their current “savings process” and is eager to try new solutions which may help them get better rewards or spend less time.
Here’s some general demographic info on iPhone users from an ’08 Forrester report:
-College Educated: 49%
-Children at home: 41%
-Household income of $70K or more: 67%

At the end we will award 5 prizes - one $175 per product name.
Create a logo type (name + visual attributes/elements) that works well on a smartphone device, such as iPhone.
Here are the criteria by which designs will be judged:
-Can the design be used to enhance the application, such as in the header, splash screen, and icons within the app?
-Does the design work well as an iPhone desktop icon (e.g. square shape, small resolution, etc.)?
-Does the logo stand out in an eye-catching way in the Apple app store?
-If possible, does the logo support the name in helping describe the application?
Colors: I'm very flexible; be creative!
Attributes: savings ($), instant, smart, fun, innovative, trustworthy, and helpful.
Dislikes: Shouldn't be *too* cutesy that users won't trust us with their financial data.
File Format: Final submission should be “layered RGB file” in Photoshop PSD format.
I’ve attached some links of existing logos/designs that convey at least some of these attributes (see attachments below).
