LOGO FOR MAJOR LABEL RECORDING ARTIST
Check out AndrewGardner's Logo design contest…
We require an iconic logo for Australian major label recording artist, Digga, based on the ‘digging man’ that you see on cautionary signs near construction sites (‘digging man/workmen ahead’). Here are the links for provide two JPG files that contain decent, workable image of the ‘digging man’ that you will need, the rest is up to you! http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1152/diggalogopic1pdfcopycp8.jpg http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/2500/diggingmanongridhf2.jpg Something between a corporate and a street logo is what we are looking for though something cool, quirky and Japanese inspired, that wouldn’t look out of place on a nightclub flyer would also be great.
What's your vision?
Digga requires an iconic and instantly recognizable logo, based on the traditional "digging man" construction sign. It can be a very simple, yet effective design, in the shape of a triangular. the word "DIGGA", sitting underneath would need to be a dynamic, yet simple Looking for a logo designed for the same reason that the Rolling Stones have the famous ‘tongue and lips’: to have a simple visual sign that is immediately and unmistakably relatable to a musical artist (namely, Digga). This logo will be used on any and everything that Digga does (press releases, album art work, web sites, blogs, myspace, facebook, show flyers, merchandise, promotional material – well, you get the idea). Digga has had some success in the Australian music industry, working as a rapper and writer on a collaborative album with an American born producer that spawned 3 Aust. Top 20 singles, 1 Aust. Top Ten single and a certified Gold Selling Aust. single (this all went down around 2004/5). He is about to embark on a similar period of productivity with the same producer, and he needs some good branding in order to launch a solo career off the back of any exposure he receives. The logo is integral to this. If you want an mp3 of a track to get an idea of what Digga is about then don’t hesitate to email firstname.lastname@example.org
- I want a logo where the ‘digging man’ appears above the word DIGGA (all uppercase) and the whole thing is bordered by a soft cornered/curve cornered rectangle (I’m not sure how thick the border should be). - In terms of inspiration, I’m thinking of the N.B.A. (National Basketball Association - http://www.lubbockonline.com/images/103100/nba_logo.jpg) logo mixed with RUN DMC’s logo (http://www.myteespot.com/images/thumbs/DSCF1831.jpg). - In terms of colours, I’m thinking green and chrome and white, although I’m fairly open to suggestion. Maybe the ‘digging man’ could be one colour, the ‘DIGGA’ could be another colour, and the border could be a third colour, on a white background. I definitely like the idea of a grainy, metallic/chrome effect being in there somewhere.
- I don’t want the ‘digging man’ to be disproportionately large or disproportionately small, the size of the ‘digging man’ and the word ‘DIGGA’ should compliment each other nicely within the rectangle. - The real challenge is to walk the fine line between coming up with a logo that looks like it could be for almost anything (universal), but is also ‘cool’ and ‘hip’ enough for a 14 year old to be wearing on a T Shirt to a 50 Cent concert. - So, I don’t want it to look too corporate and I don’t want it to look too narrowly urban (as in, ‘urban music’ – urban in general is fine!). Also, no graffiti or obvious “hip-hop” stylings. - I’m a firm believer in going wherever your artistic leanings take you, so I’d really like to see two versions of the logo – one where you stick to the vague, rambling specifications I’ve made (sorry about that!), and a second where you do something different that is more of your own style.
