CHowTo got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Need Logo/Mascot for New Website!
Check out CHowTo's Logo design contest…
I am looking for someone to create a cool web 2.0 text logo with a mascot to match. The logo does not have to be too artsy, but it does have to say CampusHowTo.com. The mascot can be built in and around the logo if necessary.
What's your vision?
I need a cool web 2.0 style logo with a college influence. In addition to the logo, I need an icon or a mascot to give my website a strong identity. I need the logo and icon done by the same person because the designers may or may not want to design the mascot in the logo. You can view a work-in-progress version of the website at http://www.sibzsolutions.com/campus . The website is for college students to upload how-to videos for each other to see, with the overall goal of making it easier to 'Survive College'. The overall theme of the website is supposed to be cool and fun as most of the videos will be about partying, making drinks, and pranks. Therefore, I need the logo and mascot to be college influenced. It should NOT be overly corny or cute, and it really can be anything (a cool student, tv, book, etc.) as long as it is relative to the website and has a clear college reference. The current color scheme of the website is boring and is really geared towards younger kids, so any design you come up with, keep in mind that the color scheme should be easy to change. However, for the time being, design for the current color scheme. The best example of what I am looking for is: http://www.monkeysee.com . This is a site that is similar to mine and you can see they went with the whole 'monkey' theme. They have monkey icons all over their website and you can see they incorporated the 'mascot' monkey into their logo. This is sort of what I am going for. Other examples I can give you of what I am looking for: collegehumor.com (the jester is their mascot) Tivo.com (the TV guy is their mascot) sassyeskimo.com (the eskimo is the mascot) However, the icon/mascot does not necessarily have to be a character, it can be an icon or an image such as the Nike swoosh or the Volkswagon VW logo. Let your creativity show. Feel free to ask questions because I will be very responsive. **Because I know this is a tough task and requires the risk of time and effort, I will be rewarding $50 for second place**
- cool text logo - web 2.0 style - college influenced - strong identity - integrated mascot/icon - clear mascot reference to college - creativity
- overly corny or cute designs - non-college influenced designs - too corporate - too artsy
