This logo is for a Horizon 2020 European Research Project called Built2Spec. This stands for Built to Specifications and refers to closing the gap between building design (the plan) and constructed buildings (what is actually built). To close this gap, our project will focus on bringing state of the art technologies to the construction worksite. Tablets, smartphones, drones, sensor technologies, wireless communications. The idea is that someone actually building the building has a tablet in their hands with all the instructions and information about what to do, how to do it, when it is supposed to be done, and the quality check forms and procedures to meet regulatory requirements automatically filled out.
We are not the company (Autodesk) that produced this video (please don't confuse that) - but this video does give a great summary of the concepts and ideas behind our research project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZojDtb6dW1k
if the link does not work - in youtube enter the "Autodesk BIM360 Field Overview Video"
Our project is made up of 20 different organizations that range from construction companies, to technology providers, to research organizations, to small businesses providing construction support services and universities. The technologies involved include tablets, smart phones, drones, thermal cameras, indoor air quality testing equipment, indoor acoustic testing equipment, sensors to embed in buildings themselves, simulation environments and the software to make it all talk together and do the things we want to do.
