We have already a logo on our website (http://www.dishpointer.com) but feel it needs improving. Especially the symbol is too general, not recognizable, and not appealing to the professional when used by itself.
Hence, the requirements are as follows:
A unique and creative symbol/icon which conveys a message and is recognizable. It must be usable by itself, e.g. as the marker on the map.
Most satellite companies use some sort of a satellite arc/a swoosh in their logos - we don't want that, it is just not unique anymore. It can be an icon but also the letters DP - it's up to your creativity.
The wording should be DishPointer, one word, no restriction on capitalization.
Large versions of the logo should have a registered trademark sign. A unique font is desirable where the logo can be recognized by the font alone.
Currently the colors are a fresh blue and green, however, the green does not provide enough contrast on white background. So, you can use full creativity on the colors but the background needs to be white and the logo must work even without color. The colors should be also optimized for web and print. Winning designer must provide pantone, rgb and hex values.
Should be fresh, innovative and smart.
It will be used on embroidery (T-shirts, cappies) - people should wear those with pride.
Can be funny but not silly and not tacky. If you go for funny, it must be really clever otherwise stick to innovative smart.
Think also technical, users are mostly technicians/engineers. They try to find a signal, and then peak the signal. One idea for the icon would be an abstract person pointing a dish - very simple, abstract and somehow made of the letters D or P or both. Just an idea.
Some licensed services require a "powered by DishPointer" line - the logo should be also used for such cases (about 16px high).
Finally, the logo must be in vector format.
If there are any questions, please let us know. We will monitor the progress closely and provide plenty of feedback during the design process.
Best of luck.
