I'm in the writing and publishing business. I'm looking for a clean, intellectual, modern look that simultaneously nods to publishing's past (newspapers, magazines, print ads, etc.) and future (e-readers, blogs, social media, etc): a future that remembers its roots, if you will.
My preference would be a logo that somehow combines the classic art deco look of railway ads and propaganda posters with the minimalist style preferred in northern Europe (sans serif typefaces, stylized shapes, generous negative space). My writing voice leans toward dry wit, so a touch of subtle mischief wouldn't hurt, though this is of secondary, even tertiary, importance.
My tagline, "language elevated" is a play on the term "elevated language" and is also a reference to my location in Fort Collins, Colorado, which sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of roughly 1,500 meters above sea level.
Finally, I'd prefer to avoid anything blatantly three dimensional that looks like it came from a computer. I'd rather convey modernity through clean design than through 3-D rendering.
Thanks so much! I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
