Gajitz.com is a place where readers find fresh content daily on great new gadgets, strange and sensational science as well as technology ... with a twist! In short: it is a place where people come to be inspired by innovations and dazzled by new discoveries.
The Problem: Gajitz is the latest in a series of sites I run but somehow seems most lacking in the logo department - which is where you come in. As you can see, I had maybe *too* much fun trying to design the logo myself - it is simply a bit too childish and hard to read. Its 'sibling site' Dornob.com has a better logo though I was hoping for something more playful/exciting/sensational/etc... for Gajitz without compromising style/respectability.
Beyond the Solution: if this contest turns out well I'd also ultimately like to maybe tweak the Dornob.com logo and definitely redo logos for WebUrbanist.com and WebEcoist.com and/or do other graphic work on these sites. This is my first time on 99designs ... I've always been impressed with the caliber of work and finally felt I should try it out myself.
Since the site has over 500,000 monthly readers (and the whole network has millions) this is a good potential portfolio-worthy project as well.
Educated, internet-savvy and geeky blog reader types - yes, it will be mostly male 20-somethings but there are plenty of older and female readers as well. The baseline: your typical web guy who is also interested in science, technology and innovation in general. These are folks likely to be reading Gizmodo, Io9, PopSci, Digg, Reddit, maybe TechCrunch as well.
-Must include 'Gajitz' or 'gajitz' (upper or lower variants are fine) - including the current tagline ('Tech with a Twist') is optional
-Should be bigger as a file but scale to fit a 229x108-pixel space
-Should blend with the light gray background of the header area as the current logo does (or have a transparent/flexible background
-Should start from scratch - do not build on the existing logo directly if possible
-Could have some dark blue (ala Dornob.com), but mostly grayscale ideally
-Could use Verdana to fit with site fonts or something else
-Could use gear image for the 'G' as the favicon does or not
