Is That a Good Deal .com
A couple price conscious parents who over the years have been running a weekly newsletter are now looking to further help families save money on frequently purchased items by taking thier newsletter onto the web and plugging into various social networks.
Main audience is the shopper of the home, typically female and tech savvy who is plugged into modern social networking sites etc.
Fun yet not childish logo needed to represent a new information based site that provides weekly price indices of frequently purchased family goods, primarily groceries.
Icons should tie into logo and need to include an upward arrow indicating a rising pricing trend, a downward arrow indicated a falling pricing trend, a neutral or stable pricing icon, and then a set of 5 icons to represent how good a deal is. One example we had though of was that of a shopping cart filled to various levels, starting with a single item to one completely overfilled.
A couple more points I just made after seeing the first design.
Would be nice to visually have some reference to household / grocerie shopping as that is the primary focus of the site. Somehow without taking over the logo maybe use a shopping cart or have the words form part of a cart perhaps.
I think the trick will be to not end up with to busy of a logo yet convey what the site is about by simpling looking at the logo.
In my mind this is what makes a good logo.
We'd like the logo to have a clean and professional look at the same time not overly pretentious looking so a logo that portrays what services were offering (a weekly list and historical reference of the best prices on groceries items for price conscious families) and is as inviting and friendly as possible.
