Dave Wooden got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo submissions wanted - Plantbid is helping landscapers and nurseries connect!
Check out Dave Wooden's Logo design contest…
Plantbid is a software as a service product that connects landscapers who buy plants wholesale to nurseries who grow them. We are replacing the hours that landscapers usually spend on the phone searching for plants with just the few minutes it takes for our software to search the inventories of thousands of nurseries and recommend the combination of plants/nurseries that gets the buyer the lowest price. As far as well can tell, we are the first company to bring complex computer programming to our industry. It's what sets us apart and makes our product awesome. Our customers, both the buyers and the sellers, are very "blue collar". Not many will be college educated but they are exceptionally smart when it comes to horticulture. Our target market within this group will tend to be large landscaping businesses in the seven figure revenue range, but also expect some interest from smaller companies as well. Our company is based out of new orleans and we will be launching in Louisiana first before we go national. It would be ok to have some aspect of new orleans factored into the logo but it shouldn't be too "hit 'em over the head" since our ultimate goal is a national presence. Everyone in the industry does leaves, trees, etc. Just google "plant logo" or "landscaper logo". It would be nice to get away from that a bit or have a more subtle leaf motif. The logo will appear on our website, social media spheres, on every email we send out, and on the invoices that we send companies. Thus it should look good in a variety of media forms and when printed with limited colors.
Logo types to explore
We want our customers to think of us as another tool in their toolbox, reliable, predictable, and you wouldn't think about doing your job without it. As essential as their shovel, truck, mulch, or lunchbox. Artwork that is amenable to being viewed/printed in black and white is a plus. We are a software company/techie people who prefer a cleaner/simpler website akin to the current SaaS aesthetic (stripe.com, gathercontent.com), but our customer base is composed of blue collar people who may be more comfortable with something that's more down to earth, earthy (monrovia.com, pikenursery.com). Our logo (and the website it appears on) should attempt to appeal to both groups.
