Zoonda is a new, simple search engine in the works (not yet live) that will be a kind of hybrid between Google and Bing in terms of appearance.
The logo will appear somewhere in the center of the browser much like Google's homepage but will appear against various background images. This means that ultimately the logo will be a PNG file with transparency.
Extraneous symbols and icons are not preferable because I don't want the logo to be competing with the background image for the viewer's attention; it shouldn't be loud. I simply want a logo that looks nice and still works harmoniously against diverse backgrounds. As much as possible, I'd like something more unique than just a plain, boring font. This means creativity with the size and shape of the actual letters will likely be given priority in my decision. It may mean more work than typing with a font, but if that were what I needed I could probably do it myself. I'm not ruling out fonts of course, but what I'm saying is–as much as possible–make it interesting without relying so much on symbols, swoops, icons, etc. If you have the talent, please show it!
Generally, people that want to search the web/internet; people looking for a great-looking but simple/clean search homepage.
• Spell the name "zoonda" (the "z" can be capitalized or not depending on how it fits in to your concept, I'll leave that to your creative discretion); Keep in mind that the search bar will appear centered, directly under the logo (much like Google's homepage)
• Because the logo needs to appear against diverse backgrounds, I would think it best, for the sake of submissions, to design against a black background or some other solid color to indicate what will ultimately be transparent. The logo itself should be mostly, if not entirely, WHITE (visit Bing's homepage to see what I mean) I hope this makes sense, if not, please ask!
You can look at Google and Bing's logos as well as other search engines for an idea of what *can* be done, however by no means feel limited by them, be creative!
Finally, here are a couple of links to quite a few "Web 2.0" logos for you to get an idea of what that can mean.
However, as already stated, please don't feel bound by them. Remember, simple doesn't have to mean boring! That's my creative challenge to you, good luck! I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
