How John_Marshall started their logo design journey
Government Transaction Services, Inc.
We are a start-up tech company providing software-as-a-service (SaaS) transaction processing/reporting services for entities that do business with the federal government. Our customers are state and local government agencies and universities that receive federal grants. Grants require a large amount of "compliance" related paperwork and reporting that creates enormous administrative burdens for grant recipients. Most of this workload is paper-based and requires grantees to undertake labor-intensive activities such as printing-out and assembling reports from grantee systems, then re-keying data into a federal agency's unique computer system. Grantees are over-burdened and frustrated by government-created complexity. Our target customers have multiple grants with different federal agencies, so they have to perform this labor-intensive filing for each agency's unique format -- therefore, they are ripe targets for an innovative, SaaS, or "cloud" solution which simplifies, standardizes and automates the reporting burden, as well as provides a community of practitioners to interact on questions regarding federal reporting requirements. Our value proposition is that we reduce the pain and complexity associated with low-value back office transactions, thereby reducing client costs and freeing up resources for them to re-assign to higher-value activities.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our target audience is potential customers: "back office" business managers, principal researchers, and IT professionals in state/local government agencies and large universities, as well as other software and professional services firms who serve the same customers and might be potential business partners.
We want our logo to be business-like, creative and distinctive -- conveying efficiency, innovation, trust, reliability and security. A good tagline that communicates our value proposition incorporated into the logo would be a nice feature, but is not necessary. We are open to all kinds of designs and taglines. The logo must be designed to be used with our full company name. We cannot use our initials (GTS) as our logo because anther company has trademark rights to them.
* No abbreviations or truncated versions of our company name.
* No cartoons – the logo should be creative but not cheap, cute, or silly-looking
* Nothing too elegant or too clever – the logo should be straightforward, bold and businesslike
* Typeface and images should be clear, bold, simple and clean-looking; the logo should stand out and be easily recognized.
* Please feel free to experiment with colors.
