Permanent Pole - (old website at http://www.permanentpole.com)
Permanent Pole was established almost 30 years ago near beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, and is a manufacturer of a wide range of heavy timber (wood) products and custom hardware used in professionally designed high end building projects in which exposed timber is selected as a prime feature.
We are focused on providing unique, innovative, beautiful and high quality products that will express the dramatic beauty of large scale exposed timber. This is achieved by manufacturing exciting, fully pre-fabricated timber components and related connectors so that field crews in normal site conditions may construct eye-catching structures without undue skills or tools.
Our unique capabilities have also made us a key resource for Architects, Engineers, Owners or Contractors for beautiful and innovative design concepts in the early stages of building projects. Our care and attention to low volume, high value wood products with minimal waste highlights our focus on ensuring the sustainability of BC's forests.

Please note - this website is next in line for a major overhaul, and will use the logo produced by the winner of this contest. Stay tuned for the follow on contest!
Purchasers - General Building Contractors and Construction companies - these are the companies who pay us, however their decisions on design and manufacturing partners are 100% influenced by Architects and Structural Engineers (see description below) - these individuals tend to be 80%+ male.
Key Influencers - Architects and Structural Engineers - Architects who recommend our services tend to be cutting edge designers with an artistic eye for using exposed heavy timber to enhance the integration of buildings with the environment, and accent the structural shape of the building with a natural material. These designers are also majority (70-80%+) male.
Geographies - Our primary geographic markets are within North America, but we have on many occasions over the last 30 years shipped our work to Europe and Asia as well.
Types of Projects - Projects have included items for executive-class homes, multi-housing, schools, health centres, exhibit halls, resorts and many First Nation facilities which typically demand a natural integration with the environment.
Key Things to Communicate through Logo - Premium, Innovative, Integrated, and Environmentally Friendly/Natural Products, along with an industrial and professional corporate feel.
Preferred Style of Logo - Text and Image, Bold and Minimalist, Corporate Feel, Would like to see both updates/modernisations of existing corporate logo (see attachment) as well as new interpretations. Please note that the full name (Permanent Pole) must be part of the logo along with any imagery.
Color preferences - We are open minded, but would possibly like to see some attempts with green as we are in the business of natural products. That being said, we have an aversion to the color purple (sorry Oprah :-)), so would prefer this color to be ommitted, we also don't particularly like pastels, but are willing to be pleasantly surprised. Note: the black background used in the existing logo is not something we love either, no/white backgrounds are probably preferred, although again we're open minded.
Format and use - This logo will be used in both print (business cards, stationary, signage, etc.) as well as online (website), so we require CMYK EPS/PDF for print purposes and preferably both a layered RGB PNG/PSD and JPEG for online purposes.
