Yoga for the people dem
WHAT WE DO Yogahood was created because I couldn’t quite find a space or vibe that I truly felt at home in. I wanted more diversity and to entice anyone who’d ever thought ‘yoga isn’t for me’. I wanted to break free from the confines of yoga studios. I started teaching in clubs, bars, old shop spaces, hotels, etc to reach new audiences and “transform” unlikely spaces into yoga 'studios'. We also host a hip hop yoga and meditation brunch event (Gyal Flex). It takes place in a club basement and to my understanding, it’s “London’s first hip hop yoga and meditation event”. It has a great community that gathers monthly in a dimly lit club space, to “throw it down on the mat, create a little heat in the body, and show up authentically”. TARGET Everyone who wants to explore yoga/ meditation but thought it wasn’t for them as they don’t look, act, flex as the stereotype of someone who practices yoga. My target is also the black community (brown and other minority groups too) as there is a significant lack of representation for both instructors and participants and need safe spaces.
Other color requirements
- Nothing too gendered. - Keep the colourway simple 2 max, unless something is really gonna 'pop' and add to the vibe.
GOAL We are looking to rebrand/refresh 'Yogahood'. We have been dubbed by the press as the "urban face of wellbeing" and would love this sentiment to be reflected. The logo should reflect my afro heritage in a way that everyone will know Yogahood is run by a black woman. I would like people to feel like they have "come home", found "their place" and excited to be part of the movement. STYLE • urban • edgy • bold • fun • feminine energy • authentic and known for “keepin’ it real” DON’Ts • I’m NOT attracted to traditional style yoga and wellness logos/branding • muted, dull or overused colors that are now synonymous with wellness/well-being • cliche yoga poses IDEAS 1. neon colors (black as the main color) 2. use elements from my personal characteristics like my hair, big hoop earrings, etc 3. it should be clear in the logo that Yogahood is run by a black woman 4. it should reflect the streets of London 5. combination of pictorial and wordmark logo 6. "we don't follow fashion, we set the trend" style VIDEO You'll understand the vibe when watching the hip hop yoga and meditation event (Gyal Flex) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1uMyDXGFuQ&t=76s
