Nookbay.com has been online since the beginning of this year and has not had a face-lift since then. It also was originally positioned as a site that focused on auctions of in-game items. It has since been expanded to be more community oriented. The site will be going through a transformation including a new look and feel and we will start this process with a new logo to be created by one of you.
Nookbay is based around the game Animal Crossing. If you do not have knowledge of this game then you will need to get some background to be able to know how to target the look of this logo. Start here at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_crossing and here is the Official site http://www.animal-crossing.com/wildworld/. The website identity centers around the in-game character Tom Nook, hence the name Nookbay for Tom Nook and eBay. You will see him in our current logo at http://www.nookbay.com. Tom Nook will need to be a part of the new logo.
Once you have a good idea about what the game is and what the site is and who Tom Nook is we would like to see your entry. We will accept a raster logo in PhotoShop format, but we would ideally like a vector format in Adobe Illustrator so we can use it offline and on merchandise. The winner of the contest will get $125, but we will give an entrant a $50 bonus if their winning logo is in vector format and comes in the form of an Adobe Illustrator file. We are also giving another $50 bonus if you are able to provide your logo with a custom illustration of Tom Nook in vector format that way we are not using a copyrighted image and also so it can be used on merchandise. This gives any entrant the potential to take a $225 prize if they can meet these extra requirements. However, we have seen many talented people on this site that may not know AI or vector graphics and we would still like to see your entry as you could still win.
Here are several links to sites to use for inspiration. The logo should be in-line with the syle and theme of the game. Fun, creative, and high-quality.

We will provide feedback regularly as entries come in. We will wait for a few to several entries before the first feedback round. Also, if you get feedback we may help direct your logo through revisions to get it where we think it needs to be. There is no deadline for this contest. Instead, we will work with people until a winner is found. We will pay the winner promptly and we will pay using any resonable method including Western Union and MoneyBookers. We also expect the contest thread to stay on point. Please PM if you feel you need clarification.
Update: Only vector logos will be accpeted. Adobe Illustrator format only with vector illustration of Tom Nook. All bonuses have been added into the main logo price.
