Freshleaf Media needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
2 winners were selected from 65 designs submitted by 25 freelance designers.
Established nostalgia website Do*You*Remember.co.uk (without the *) needs a Web 2.0 makeover to make its social networking features more prominent and usable and also to significantly improve its image and logo. This is a high profile website run by a very small (and busy) team and we are looking for some really outstanding new design ideas. Lets see what you've got!
Do*You*Remember (without the *s)
Tagline:
the 70s, 80s and 90s
Desired Color Scheme:
whatever you think works best
Desired Style:
web 2.0 with an 80s reference
Accepted File Formats:
Vector Formats (.eps, .pdf or .ai); Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff)
Website design (uncoded)
The brief is to redesign this existing website.
We have recently built in some social networking tools and forced them into the existing design, but we need something purpose built that makes the social networking obvious, enticing and easy to use.
We are looking for a really exciting design of a content page (see this page as an example). The contest winner may also be offered the opportunity to submit a design for the homepage as well but for the moment, the content page is all that is required.
A website that really inspires us is:
http://www.retroland.com (these guys are doing almost exactly the same thing as us so it is spot on in terms of content and usability but we're not overly keen on the actual design and colours.
We do not want you to copy this site, it is merely an example of a better implementation of (almost) everything we already have.
The design style should be web 2.0 with colour scheme and style to suit the subject matter without looking gawdy, cheap or tacky.
We are looking for a detailed design which includes ALL the features of the current site but laid out in a better way. Specifically we're looking for a more obvious and usable inclusion of the social networking tools we have (view people's profiles, send messages etc).
Logo
The logo must be web 2.0 and compliment the website design and colour scheme. The logo should either include a hint of an 80s theme or reference memories, remembering, sharing memories and that sort of thing.
The logo should include the name 'Do You Remember' either with or without spaces between the words. Use of the .co.uk is optional. The logo may also end with a question mark.
Preferably a follow on strapline should also be included saying 'the 70s, 80s and 90s'
The logo may include the standard web 2.0 'beta' but in recognition of its 80s theme, the 'beta' should become 'betamax' (well we think it's funny...). If it spoils the design, feel free to lose it.
Upper, lower or mixed case letters are up to you.
Think web 2.0 with a HINT of the 80s (not 70s).
General
All work must be original and all fonts must be turned into outlines and vector artwork will need to be provided. If you need any more information please let me know.
