Conair360 got their new app design by running a design contest:
Fused - iPhone app design needed
Check out Conair360's App design contest…
“Fused” is an iPhone app that allows users to post to all their social networks in one app. The theme of the app and of the company is the unification of content and tasks.
We’ve provided a screenshot of our current design. It’s fairly basic and features what is described above. You can see the second photo shows what happens when you swipe over where there are separate icons for adding pictures and locations. We’re not in love with this setup, so feel free to have a different kind/placement of toolbar or menu, or use a similar set up. Whichever you think looks best. Please note, we plan on supporting the following social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Myspace, FourSquare, and Orkut. We already have square icons for each (so you will not have to create your own) but the design should be able to support anywhere from 1 to 9 different social networks and their respective icons. Currently, our icons are 40x40 pixels (80x80 for retina)
The main screen of the app consists of space to write out a status. There is a horizontal task bar or menu of some sort, where the user can selectively turn each social network "on" or "off". (i.e. Twitter, Tumblr, Myspace, Facebook, etc.) (The icons are grayed out when "off" and colored in when "on") The user creates one status and then selects which social network they want to post it too. There would also be a submenu or secondary component of the same toolbar/menu that features icons that represent the functionality of adding photos to the status or locations. Currentley, if the user swipes to the left of the social networking icons, these options are available. (see screenshots) There would need to be a dedicated button for sending/posting the status they’ve created. NOTE: There is a fullscreen button currentley built into the app design. It is the eye icon on the tools screenshot. Pressing it hides the toolbar with a nice animation and gives the user more room to type. (note, the app automatically goes into fullscreen mode in landscape orientation, see screenshot) Please keep this feature in mind with your design.
What to avoid
We're open to designs of all sorts. NOTE: The icon that looks like a message "envelope" is designed to be the "post status" button. You do not have to stick with this, that's just what it represents in the mockup we've provided. Also, feel free to get creative with the texture/color scheme if you feel inspired. We'll provide feedback if it's something we like.
