WHY I think it's important to know the purpose of the scorecard, to make a great design. -- What’s the Purpose of the Scorecard? -- The purpose of the Scorecard is to show prospects their opportunity to increase revenue or conversions with their website through Search. If they're excited enough about the opportunity - and think they get enough new and trustworthy insights from the SEO and PPC performance sections - they will book a free consultation with us. That's the end goal of the scorecard - to get a meeting with the prospect where we review the scorecard with them live, 1-on-1. This will then interest them in using Longtail UX for their website, to create more longtail landing pages. -- How Does Longtail UX increase the revenue their website produces? -- Longtail UX does this for customers by creating new pages on their website. These pages display the most relevant items from their website according to the search. The searches we create pages for are only so-called “longtail” searches - topics that are very specific. For example, “non toxic blue eye shadow for pregnant women.” This search is very specific and may only get a handful of searches on Google per month. When we create a page that shows only these items, Google usually ranks it on the 1st page of the search results. This is because the page we create is extremely relevant and helpful to the searcher. Here’s an example of one of the Longtail UX customers who gets more Conversions: Customer - Bizcover: https://share.vidyard.com/watch/gfeAXsKP3CvVm6pRVtFLYG? -- What Do the Longtail UX Scorecards Show? -- The Scorecards show prospects how much more Revenue or Conversions they could get from using Longtail UX. Because there are two different goals (Revenue and Conversions), there are two types of Scorecards: Revenue Scorecards and Conversion Scorecards. By using Longtail UX, customers can get more Revenue or Conversions for their website. They do this by getting traffic to new longtail landing pages that Longtail UX creates for them. In the next section, I’ll show you what a Revenue Scorecard shows prospects, and how to get them excited to schedule a call with one of our Search Consultants. -- Example of a Scorecard with Opportunity -- Example 1 of a Scorecard shows one where there is definitely an opportunity for the customer to earn enough more Revenue with Longtail UX to make it worthwhile. Longtail UX Scorecard
There are 4 main parts of the Scorecard. They can exist either on A) a single page, as currently or B) As links in a Navigation sidebar on the right, that fill the content section, as in https://cdn.dribbble.com/users/875611/screenshots/8719656/media/5d7ffeeae20dc3890c66e7f0920e7b4b.jpg This is your choice as a dashboard designer. Again, the primary focus of this design is to make it as clear and easy to understand as possible. Here are the 4 areas of the dashboard: 1. Revenue Opportunity In the current Scorecard, "1. Revenue Opportunity from Longtail Search (next 12 months)" 2. PPC Performance In current Scorecard, "2. Current PPC Performance (last 12 months)" 3. SEO Performance In current Scorecard, "3. Current SEO Performance (last 12 months)" 4. Top 100 Longtail Keywords In the current Scorecard, "4. Top-100 Longtail SEO Pages Missing from fakewebsite.com" ---- You'll see a lot of text describing the report and elements the user will see. That text needs to be in the final dashboard design, but can be above or below the graphical elements, depending on what you think will result in the most clarity for the user.
What to avoid
We don't want a "prettied up" version of the current scorecard - we want a radical new direction that has an extreme bias to clarity. Please avoid the current design problem of starting with a "Wall of Text" at the top - it turns the user off. The people looking at these scorecards have just shared their Google Analytics data with us (that takes a huge leap of faith) and have very little context for any of the content within the scorecard.
