Swarley did a great job with my design. It's clean, simple, and conveys what I had envisioned.
fauxcouture is a true professional with a lot of creative talent. She tackled the contest with passion and delivered more than was asked. I would love to work with fauxcouture again.

It is a family crest that needs updating and a good digital format for reproducing onto stationary and a possible geneaology website as well as a geneaology book to be printed in 2014.
It is a rampant lion with head cut off and three drops of blood spurting out. A small heraldic rose in the left top corner of the shield. The lion is silver on a blue background
The elements and colours are not changeable. ie there has to be a lion on it's hind legs ( stylized modern looking or classical) facing to the left and headless, three drops of blood is important coloured red. blue background is compulsory as well as silver colour of lion. These are heraldic inherited colours so cannot be changed. The hue however, tints etc are not defined. So cobalt blue to baby blue could work. To you to show us what looks best.
The rose although an heraldic rose could be reinterpreted as long as it is distinguishable as a flower as in heraldry it will be called a rose.
I have a sample of a very bad quality copy from the 19th century which I included.
The design can be from contemporary to classic. A complete reimagining or a reproduction. the field on which it is just needs to be blue. shaping the background into a shield is not necessary but may enhance the look. heraldic shields have changed a lot in the last 600 years. Any will do as long as it creates a visually pleasing whole.
