This is kind of a weird design project, I know. But I've tried to hire a couple designers and they all just keep not coming through. I have successfully used 99 Designs for business in the past, so I figure I'd give it a shot with this ultra-personal project.
This project is to design my sister's headstone, who passed away in the summer of 2010.
The headstone will be on black granite, with laser-etching. You can see more about it at http://supernovaintl.com/laser.html
The stone is 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and 1 foot deep. It's the standard shape with the curvy section on top, as seen at http://www.headstones-tombstones-gr…ments.html
There are 2 sides on the monument.
SIDE 1: Angel(s) + Dolphin(s) + name: "McLean"
SIDE 2: "Alicia M. McLean" and "Sept. 19, 1980 - July 22, 2010" + POEM
I’d like the memory of me,
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow,
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo,
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times,
And bright and summer days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave,
When life is done.
My sister had an extreme love of dolphins, so we want a dolphin + angel design. My dad has the idea to have a big angel with wings out-stretched and dolphins underneath. My mom has ideas of the angel kneeling down and dolphins soaring jumping over.
Please research the new kind of laser etching they can do on headstones nowadays, and you'll see the images can be very detailed. A lot of people put actual photographs on it. So if you can find actual photographs to use, cool. We're open to any and all designs, something that is respectful and tasteful. we found a lot of the angels we came across looked too happy or baby-ish, and a lot of the dolphins we found were too cartoon-ish.
