Food & Drink
Giocato Pinot Grigio
Description of the product
Giocato is a wine crafted by Aleks and Edi Simcic, two of the most renowned winemakers in Slovenia. Not many people know about Slovenian wine, but the fact is the winery is only a couple hundred yards from one of the most acclaimed wine regions in Italy. The soil is the same, the grape varietals are the same, the climate is the same and the quality is the same. The one difference is that being in Slovenia results in the price being 60% of what you would pay for their Italian neighbors. In-fact prior to WW2 the Simcic vineyard was part of Italy. This little-known area is beginning to receive much more recognition and acclaim by world’s wine press.
Description of the product target audience
Our wines are sold through both grocery/wine stores as well as restaurants. The demographics would be 50/50 men/women, college educated, 24-49, living in urban/suburban locations.
The current label is whimsical with cats being a prominent part of the label. We believe the time has come to probably move away from the cat motif. The other problem with the wine is that it looks like a $10 wine. We want the brand name to be the main icon of the label and our goal would be to have the wine appear to feel much more like a $15-$20 bottle of wine. We are very open to the design concepts and styles. We are open to colors, shapes and icons as well as embossings or foils. Besides the brand name (Giocato) and varietal (Pinot Grigio) the wine should have the vintage (2020). We are open to the possibility of having ‘by Aleks Simcic’ on the label but this is not mandatory. The actual overall style is open for interpretation, but we are thinking it should have clean and classic look but not be too cluttered. You could think of it as perhaps being a little rustic with a modern spin. It should look established but not old. We are open to staying with the same font but would certainly be open to changes. We want the label designed and shown on a clear Bordeaux bottle similar to the current bottle. The size and shape of the label is open. We will continue to have a screw cap that should complement the label. Right now, it is a two piece label but it could be one or two pieces and the font for the varietal could stay the same but we are absolutely open to looking at alternative fonts.
What to avoid
I would avoid neon colors. We want the bottle to pop on the shelf but not look cheap. We also do not want images of chateaus, vineyards or vines.
