A couple staving off Tyranny

The biggest surprise was that the first participant seemed to have the clearest visceral understanding of the goal. I don't view people jumping ahead or following a vision before fully reading a brief as a bad thing if some unforeseen stroke of genius results from following a surge of outside-the-box thinking. That said, it was staggering to me just how many times I had to update the highly detailed brief because most had not read much of it at all. Why are so many submissions out of touch with the brief? Jareer was the exception to this pattern and had intuited the best ideas from the get-go. His adjustments were precise and required little clarification unless it was something I asked for but then reverted to the prior model. I could not put an entire book in the brief but I felt as though Jareer had somehow understood the contents before the added changes to the brief. The gulf between the work others submitted and Jareer's was undeniable. I sent him a video to provide modern comparisons of a certain aspect and the improvement was flawless, it was not kept due to composition but the adjustments were so strong and immediate. Early on, I thought there could more responses but the communication improved significantly as we progressed. If Jareer's design were omitted due to unavailability or such I would have had to settle for an inferior product. There was secondary imagery within the piece, and a sense of atmosphere, that aligned perfectly with the spec. The mood offered immediacy whereas the others mostly provided images of aftermath. I feel there was an intrinsic understanding of the goal that the others missed. Again, it was odd that Jareer's vision stood out so far and above the others, given he was the very first participant. Clairvoyant?
